About a year ago, we were made aware – by industry friends and non-industry friends – that 10 Barrel Brewing released a beer called “Cloud Mentality Hop Burst Hazy IPA” with a purple/pink floral-esque cloudy background that had the “Cloud” text lined up with the “Burst” text. The combination of it all felt *a little* too close to home. Especially with our past feelings towards them: that they were started by affluent, capital “B” bros and built to sell out (which they did to Anheuser Busch Inbev for tens of Millions of dollars) all on the backs of one of the most talented brewing teams in the country. Then AB-Inbev offloaded them to Tilray, a Canadian weed company worth about half a BILLION dollars, who ended up laying off the aforementioned uber-talented brewery team (What’s UP with that?!) which leads us back to the present matter. After having our lawyer send a letter to their counsel, they didn’t seem to see any similarities with their product! HOW COOL. So then they shouldn’t have any issue with this IPA, loaded with Simcoe and Amarillo, and the accompanied imagery on instagram. In conclusion, we hope this beer serves as a friendly reminder to support small, locally owned and operated, independent breweries that truly appreciate their employees, customers, and city. Oh and also, fuck corporate beer.
