We didn’t enter an IPA in this year’s GABF, but if we did…it still probably wouldn’t have won any bling. BUT that’s not saying it wouldn’t be awarded a consolatory prize for participating. A bit brighter & assertive, Simcoe hops tend to dominate the IPA category year in and year out, and it’s distinct character holds up better with time. We also worked in Loral and Citra hops throughout the brew, accentuating both the piney/resiny and juicy/citrusy notes while minimizing the bitterness. This beer could’ve been somebody. Maybe next year.
