Fairly known fact: Cascade hops were first released in the US in 1972. Lesser known fact: A couple decades later, rhizomes for this variety made their way across the Pacific to hop farms in New Zealand. The differences are striking, making this hop a super cool example of nature vs. nurture. With variations in climate, agronomics and terroir in New Zealand, the same hop genetics display a completely different flavor profile – with notes of key lime, red grapefruit, & beach grass. Thus, we made a pale loaded with NZ Cascade, and a touch of Citra, for you to taste for yourself. Pretty cool, huh?
